Pine Island Road Expansion

In concert with AJAX Paving and the Florida Department of Transportation, EHC provided a variety of earthwork services for the expansion of Pine Island Road, otherwise known as State Road 78, from Burnt Store Road to Chiquita Boulevard. EHC services included 170,000 cubic yards of lake and road excavation, stabilized subgrade and finish grading. Upon project completion, the road was converted from a two-lane road to a four-lane road and serves as the main arterial in mid Cape Coral. An outside four-foot paved bike lane, 46-foot grass median separating eastbound and westbound lanes, stormwater ponds, and roadside swales were also included in the project. The goal of the expansion is to facilitate more businesses, investment, and overall growth in the area by providing better access to Cape Coral. In addition, the two-mile project helps with hurricane evacuations.
